9th May. Watercolour Workshop


A wonderful opportunity to attend the latest Botanical Illustration Workshop this May, exploring the use of Watercolours at Botanical Atelier. I’m so excited to share one the purist mediums for illustrating and look forwards to sharing lots of tips and techniques with you. Hosted by the Potager Gardens, in Constantine. Workshops will be held once a month, from 10am-2pm.

Botanical Atelier

Sarah is an award winning Artist and has been represented by the Royal Horticultural Society, and the Royal College of Physicians. Most recently gaining a Gold Medal for her Botanical Art exhibition of ‘Medicinal Fruits and the Symbiosis with their Pollinators’, at the Lindley Halls, Westminster, London.

With a growing interest for Botanical Illustration, Sarah hosts a monthly session at the Potager Gardens, in Cornwall. An idyllic setting with a gentle approach to Botanical Illustration. Using mixed media, Sarah will take you through the cathartic process of choosing plants and flowers to illustrate from the beautifully stocked gardens to tips and techniques to perfect your skills.

Welcoming all levels to the workshop, from the complete beginner to the confident artist. Sarah will take time to deliver a class and also give everybody one to one tuition, in a light and relaxed environment. Please do feel free to bring along your own materials, although paints, paper, pencils etc. will happily be provided on the day.


What’s included in the ticket?

Each ticket will include an opportunity to explore the gardens, and purchase selected plants. Demonstrations with group and one to one tuition, and a tea or coffee during the session.

A chance to explore Illustration techniques.

There will be a different genre of Botanical Illustration each month.This May we shall be exploring the use of watercolours. Learning how to render textures, make accurate colour studies, and application techniques. Beginning with a warm up task and chance to look through this months Botanical Book choice, ‘Werner’s Nomenclature of Colours’, a fascinating book that Charles Darwin used to describe colours in nature on the HMS Beagle.

As always we welcome everyone from all backgrounds so whether this is the first time you have tried an art workshop or you have a high skill level Sarah will lead you with enough enthusiasm to make the day a great one.

Please note, cancelations are non-refundable however, will happily exchanged for another workshop on an alternative date, if space is available.
