Botanical Illustration with graphite pencils
Sarah is an award winning Artist and has been represented by the Royal Horticultural Society, most recently gaining a Silver Gilt Medal for her Botanical Art exhibition of Lavenders at the Lindley Halls, Westminster, London.
With a growing interest for Botanical Illustration, the latest course of workshops began in June at the Potager Gardens, Cornwall. An idyllic setting with a gentle approach to Botanical Illustration taught by Sarah Jane Humphrey. Using mixed media, Sarah will take you through the cathartic process of choosing plants and flowers to illustrate from the beautifully stocked gardens to tips and techniques to perfect your skills.
Welcoming all levels to the workshop, from the complete beginner to the confident artist. Sarah will take time to deliver a class and also give everybody one to one tuition, in a light and relaxed environment. Please do feel free to bring along your own materials, although paints, paper, pencils etc. will happily be provided on the day.
Whats included in the ticket?
Each ticket will include a tea or coffee from the Potager Garden café during the workshop. An opportunity to explore the gardens, and purchase selected plants. Demonstrations with group and one to one tuition, followed by a delicious wholesome lunch, made using the finest local organic produce.
A chance to explore Illustration techniques.
There will be a different genre of Botanical Illustration each month. This February we shall be covering drawing strategies, working with graphite pencils and a few surprises along the way. Explore the values of working in monochrome and understanding how to execute tonal studies with perfection. We shall also be learning how to apply pencil using different textural qualities and also discovering how to use your erasers to enhance your artwork. As always we welcome everyone from all backgrounds so whether this is the first time you have tried an art workshop or you have a high skill level Sarah will lead you with enough enthusiasm to make the day a great one.
