Oyster Mushroom Beetle, Triplax lacordairii

The glorious Oyster Mushroom Beetle. This was commissioned by The Endangered Species Trust, to raise awareness of the unfortunate decline of these wonderful beetles. It was an absolute pleasure to draw.

I have achieved the depth of colour from building up many layers of pencil crayon and gouache. I find this technique that has evolved over many years of practice seems to be a fantastic way of not only creating vibrant images, but also producing the high level of detail synonymous with my Illustrations.
